Work on the multiple projects in the west end of the 501/301 Queen streetcar route, west of Roncesvalles Avenue is continuing.

The planned return of streetcar service between Long Brach Loop and Roncesvalles Avenue will be phased:

  • April 1, 2018 - streetcars will resume operating between Windermere/Queensway and Roncesvalles Avenue (and east to Neville Park Loop).
  • June 2018 - streetcars will resume operating between Long Branch Loop and Humber Loop (and east to Neville Park Loop).

TTC service - current to 5 a.m. on February 18

  • 501/301 Queen streetcars are currently providing service on Queen Street between Roncesvalles Avenue and Neville Park Loop.
  • 501L/301L Queen shuttle buses continue to operate between Long Branch Loop and Dufferin Gate Loop.
  • 501M Queen buses continue to operate a clockwise service linking The Queensway with Lake Shore Boulevard, Marine Parade Drive, and Park Lawn Road.

TTC service - 5 a.m. on February 18 to 5 a.m. on April 1

Starting February 18, 2018 the bus replacement service west of Roncesvalles Avenue will operate with some changes:

  • 501/301 Queen streetcars will continue to provide service on Queen Street between Roncesvalles Avenue and Neville Park Loop.
  • 501L Queen shuttle buses will operate between Long Branch Loop and the Dufferin/Queen area via; Lake Shore Boulevard, Windermere Avenue, The Queensway and Queen Street turning back via; Gladstone Avenue, Peel Avenue and Dufferin Street.
  • 301L Queen shuttle buses will operate between Long Branch Loop and Dufferin Gate Loop.

Customers may transfer between streetcars and shuttle buses on Queen Street, between Roncesvalles Avenue and Dufferin Street.

  • 501M Marine Parade-Windermere temporary shuttle bus service will no longer operate. Customers must board 501L buses on Lake Shore Boulevard. Customers travelling to The Queensway can board the 66 Prince Edward bus service.

Overview of infrastructure improvement projects affecting 501/301 route

  • Track renewal on The Queensway from Parkside Drive to Humber Loop,
  • City Bridge Rehabilitation and track renewal - The Queensway Bridge over the Humber River,
  • Track renewal on Lake Shore Boulevard from Humber Loop to Dwight Avenue,
  • Humber Loop Improvements: new accessible platforms, new shelters, new rails, a wider pedestrian tunnel walkway, new electrical substation to protect the long term integrity of rails on Lake Shore Boulevard West.

The Queensway - Project Update

Track and civil work on The Queensway is completed. Streetcar overhead installation continues between Windermere Avenue the Humber Loop. Work will be completed by April 1, 2018, weather permitting.


Track Renewal on City Bridge - Project Update

Streetcar overhead installation continues. Some concrete curb work remains. Work will be completed by April 1, 2018, weather permitting.


Lake Shore Boulevard West - Project Update

The City and TTC replaced streetcar tracks on Lake Shore Boulevard West from Dwight Avenue towards Humber Loop.

Remaining work to be completed include some concrete work within the track allowance, road surface paving and line markings between Brookers Lane and the Humber Loop.

Construction of an underground electrical chamber and modifications to the streetcar platform on Lake Shore Boulevard West, just west of Humber Loop to be completed.


Humber Loop - Project Update

The work at Humber Loop is currently ongoing until late spring 2018. All work inside the Loop is weather dependent that can affect the return of streetcar service.

Humber Loop will be a major work zone area for various infrastructure improvements including:

  • new streetcar tracks including new spur track
  • accessible platforms
  • new/wider pedestrian tunnel walkway
  • new sub-station building and underground conduits for electric cables
  • realignment of all existing overhead wiring in the loop and in the tunnel leading to Lake Shore Boulevard West
  • Track installation and some overhead adjustments for the Queen turn-back will completed by April 1, 2018, weather permitting. Remaining work, including passenger platform renewal, track renewal and overhead adjustments for the Lake Shore turn-back, as well as a wider pedestrian tunnel walkway will be completed by June 2018.
